Tim’s Titanium Masterpieces

This is a piece of 6AL4V Titanium
that Tim acid dipped, then rainbow
colored. It is one of 4 sample pieces
Tim made back in the early 90’s.
I’ve held onto them all these years
since he made them.
6AL4V was Tim’s favorite of all the different
Titanium alloys. Reason being, the crystaline structure
on the surface of the Titanium. Sadly it was unusable
for making braceletts and other jewelry pieces.
The one thing that made the 6AL4V unsutable for
jewely, was the fact it was very strong, almost brittle
and could not be bent. Something that always made
Tim and I both sad, because as you can see, there’sĀ
a special beauty in a piece of 6AL4V.
